Welcome to our channel, and our 5th year of sailing the World 🙂
My name is Sophie, I am French, and I sail the World together with my partner Ryan, who’s American. We met on Tinder in Stockholm, Sweden in 2015, where we lived at the time. Were we sailors? No. In fact, we had never stepped foot on a sailboat.
But a couple of months after we met, Ryan had an unfortunate encounter with a goose, which left him with a broken shoulder. And it is thanks to that goose that you are watching this video right now.
While repairing his body and soul, Ryan stumbled upon a Bored Panda article about the adventures of Matt & Jessica AKA @MJSailing , a couple our age who had sold their belongings to buy a boat and sail the World.
“Why not?” we asked ourselves. “It isn’t like sailing would be too hard to learn, and traveling by the wind sounds like a cheap way to see the World”.
OK, we were very wrong. But a few years later, here we are, making it happen on our sailboat Polar Seal, a Beneteau Oceanis which we have called home since 2018. We have sailed over 25000 nautical miles from Stockholm in Sweden, down to the Mediterranean, and across the Atlantic three times.
We even created a course about how to get started sailing the World! https://www.brighttrip.com/courses/sailing-the-world?utm_source=creator_Ryan_Sophie
So welcome to our channel, we hope that you will enjoy the journey as much as we do.
