Ep 58 Sailing Solo Canada to Ireland
I sail across the North Atlantic from Newfoundland to Ireland in early July 2022. I am very fortunate in my selection of wx window, as the passage is almost like a Trade Wind passage (except the cold and fog). I discuss the issues of “seaworthiness” and the pros and cons of removeable forestays. I ask whether one should motor through a low wind zone, or sit it out. The passage took 13 days.

Initially sailing single-handed on a Bavaria 40 sailboat in the Atlantic. Based in La Rochelle, France. Sold the Bavaria in early 2021, and bought a Bongo 8.70 meter (28 foot) made in France in 2009 (much smaller and faster than the Bavaria, but also, much less comfortable). After a circuit of the Atlantic during the Spring/Summer of 2022, I sold the Bongo and bought a new RM 890+. Adventures in the North Atlantic will continue.
