In this episode, I move Wahine to a nearby marina where I will leave her for a few weeks as forward progress is difficult given the extended restrictions. I then dash off to Tokyo to celebrate with a few supporters the one year anniversary leaving Tokyo and then will spend some time with family. Watch to the end and find out how to get a free copy of my book NEVER TOO LATE.

notes from the the last year.

It’s been a year since I departed Yumenoshima Marina and I am back in Tokyo to mark the moment… I finally got around to reviewing all my notes and log and the stats are listed below. I am a slow learner and committed in year two to step it up in terms time on the water and experiencing diverse conditions … but year one is what it is and I am grateful for every experience and lessons learned not too mention those who have been kind to me along the way
– 1257 nm (about 2300 km)
– 41 days at sea
– 38 ports ( I stayed longer than a week in 6)
– 6 weeks on the hard ( dry dock )
– three visits by the JCI.
– 9 inspections by the coast guard ( two at sea)
– 3 tows ( all to do with same incident)
– constant change of plans
– 70 % of the time motor sailed
– 2/3 of time at sea solo ( one third with crew)
– 4 night time passages ( three singlehanded and one with crew)
– one “pan pan pan pan pan pan”
– one rescue ( hence the tows)
