This Remote Island in Japan has the Most Incredible Blue Water.

Hearing the words “remote island Japan” is one thing. Seeing it in person is another. And having the opportunity to sail through its clear, blue waters? That’s a dream come true.
In this episode, I sail to my third port on this unique Island called Amami. The port is called Koniya in Setouchi and is popular among Sailors and a good typhoon hole. Before I leave the deep inlet of Uken, though, I welcome my friend Esteban who has come for a few days. He teaches me the proper way to each spaghetti, and together with local guide Matt, we visit some charming and out-of-the-way local eateries. All under the excellent tutelage of a local guide and a man of the jungle, mountain, and sea, Matt Pride. My mate Mitsu also accompanied us to Koniya but did not make it into any of the shots for some reason. Next time!
Once to Koniya, meeting up again with Rui, a JP YouTuber, is great. He and Koru live aboard their boat.

And I met others who live aboard, including a solo sailor from Hokkaido and a young man from Sendai.
