On our trip from Santa Cruz Island (Pelican Bay) to Santa Barbara, we left at the same time as two other sailboats, also known as a “Not Race”, an “Under Your Breath Race”, “A Cruiser’s Adultery”, or a “Deniable Competition” (cause when you lose, you weren’t ACTUALLY racing). *Please add others in the comments if you think of any đ*
The best part was sailing at a comfortable clip, and having a huge pod of dolphin get excited to run with us. It had a feeling of drive or purpose to it as though the cool kids thought we were cool too, and that we were invited to run with them! They hung out with us for 30 minutes or so, and surfed every wave the boat could produce: the bow, the side, the stern wake, they loved all of it! Hope you enjoy some of the amazing sights we experienced while being able to hang with these agile, fast, and playful creatures!
Our Lady Defiant
We live on our J-133, named Defiant, and sail along the California coast when we're bored of sailing in our home port of San Francisco Bay. We love to race, as well as cruise, so we bought a boat that does both, and we use it for both regularly! We also have a cat, named Whiskey, who we bring along with us for all the adventures.
