On fall days, the wind blows out of the east in San Francisco, bringing with it smells of Fall foliage, fireplaces, and a dry chill in the air. It’s on days like that we enjoy sailing in what feels like a whole new place. We get to go up-wind towards Berkeley, and fly spinnakers towards the gate.
Not only that, but with the king tides, we see currents rushing huge logs downstream and out the gate, to the point where we’re on constant lookout for pilings, sheets of plywood (yes, we’ve seen that), and rebar (a running joke at my expense, but I swear it looked like rebar at first glance!).

Our Lady Defiant
We live on our J-133, named Defiant, and sail along the California coast when we're bored of sailing in our home port of San Francisco Bay. We love to race, as well as cruise, so we bought a boat that does both, and we use it for both regularly! We also have a cat, named Whiskey, who we bring along with us for all the adventures.
