After spending over a month in the beautiful Sand Bloss archipelago, we had to move on from our favorite anchorages. But as one door closes, another opens, and today was the day we returned to our favorite spot – Coco Bandera!

Reuniting with Friends

Sand Bloss is not only known for its beauty, but also for being a hot spot for cruising boats. Our little community had all taken different paths – traveling through Central America and crossing the Panama Canal at different times. But eventually we all made our way to Sand Bloss. And today, all of us who have been following this route were reunited on the same beach!

Weather Turning Stormy

Just as we started to enjoy our time together, a major weather system rolled in. Squalls and strong winds battered the island for days on end – with wind gusts reaching up to 27 knots!

Hunkering Down

Although the weather was rough, we had plenty of time on our hands to get some work done. In between squalls and periods of calm, we made sure to take full advantage of the gorgeous beaches that surrounded us.

Perfect Beach

The weather system finally calmed down, and we were left with just the perfect trade winds. The sun returned and everyone was excited to get off their boats – even Penny had found an awesome spot to catch crabs.

Snorkeling and Beach Parties

A few days later, the time had come for another epic adventure – a snorkeling trip to the nearby reefs. The waters were clear and full of amazing marine life.

Stern-to Anchoring on Coco Bandera

We were more than ready to create our dream backyard in this remote piece of paradise – and the next morning, we did just that. With the help of friends and some ingenious ideas, we successfully stern-to anchored our boats along the palm-lined beach.

Celebrating our New Backyard

As we settled into our new backyard, everyone was eager to celebrate! Bonfires were built on the beach while laughter and music filled the air. Our makeshift island city couldn’t have been more perfect.

A Dream Realized

Living on a boat has its challenges, but there’s nothing quite like achieving the dream of an idyllic beach getaway surrounded by friends in paradise. Those days in Sand Bloss will forever be some of our most cherished memories.

The Journey Continues

While we had made the perfect island getaway for ourselves, we knew that the journey of sailing and exploring with our friends was far from over. It just made us all more excited to see where the next chapter would take us.
