BOATYARD: Scratching ( again!..), Grinding, Sanding and CEMENT to Clog our Holes! // Ep. 42

(🇫🇷 Juste en dessous) At the boatyard we were, at the boatyard we are still. Last week (to see in this episode: https://youtu.be/9SNgUGdx1b4), we started to scratch the hull to bare it and we removed the rudder wick which was well stuck.

This week, we continue our somewhat exhausting work! On the menu: continue to scratch the hull to bare it (if we used the grinder to do it all, the amount of discs used would have been phenomenal), clog all our holes with mixes of epoxy, resin and cement (it still makes us feel weird!) and removing the propeller shaft, a mandatory task because there was a play, in order to change the hydrolube ring. It will have taken Jo several days to succeed because it was well stucked!

In this episode we also talk about some reality, such as the impact of the cost of boatyard and how there are always variables that change. If we tell you, it’s only to show you the reality of it and inform (of course, the costs are different from one boatyard to another, from a boat to another). And then, as long as we have pasta, cheese and nutella, we can survive! Isn’t it, my Captain?

🇫🇷 Au carénage nous étions, au carénage nous sommes encore. La semaine dernière ( à voir dans cet épisode: https://youtu.be/9SNgUGdx1b4 ), nous avons commencé à gratter la coque pour la remettre à nue et nous avons enlevé la mèche de safran qui était bien coincée.

Cette semaine, on continue notre chantier un peu épuisant! Au menu: continuer de gratter la coque pour la remettre à nue ( si on utilisait la meuleuse pour la faire au complet, la quantité de disques utilisés aurait été phénoménale), boucher tous nos trous avec des mélanges d’epoxy, de résine et de ciment ( ca nous fait toujours aussi bizarre!) et réussir à enlever l’arbre d’hélice, une tâche obligatoire car il y avait du jeu, afin de changer la bague hydrolube. Ça aura pris plusieurs jours à Jo pour réussir tellement c’était bien pogné comme ont dit au Québec!

Dans cet épisode on parle aussi de certaines réalité, comme le coût de carénage et à quel point il y a toujours des variables qui changent. Si on vous le dit, c’est uniquement pour vous montrer la réalité de la chose, et on s’est dit que ça peut toujours servir ( bien sûr, les coûts sont différents d’un carénage à un autre, d’un bateau à un autre). Et puis, tant qu’on a des pâtes, du fromage et du nutella, on peut survivre! N’est-ce pas mon Capitaine?

Allez, au boulot, il nous reste plus que 7 jours pour tout faire! La semaine prochaine, ce sera peinture, bague hydrolube et remise à l’eau! Wouhouuu
