Outboard Trouble (Again!) & a Beautiful Sail to Salen | Dinghy Drama & Scottish Magic

Just when we thought our outboard woes were behind us… it breaks again in the wind and rain, no less! With the engine out of action, Matt rows ashore like a hero, gets it going temporarily, but it doesn’t last long. Thankfully, our friends come to the rescue, picking up a new 4hp outboard for us in Inverness. Big upgrade and a lot more weight for me (Paige) to wrangle aboard!

We sail to Salen, meet our friends, and collect the new engine all after a fantastic sail in true Scottish style. From Salen, we set off for Loch Drambuie, enjoying another beautiful passage, navigating through a narrow gap past Broad Rock. To top it all off, Matt forages some winkles from the beach to cook for dinner. Not a bad way to end a day at sea.

⛵ Highlights:

Outboard fails again in wind & rain

Matt rows ashore & attempts a repair

We upgrade to a 4hp engine (goodbye, 2.0!)

Fantastic sailing to and from Salen & Loch Drambuie

Navigating narrow gaps and rocky channels

Beach foraging for wild winkles

Another real slice of sailing life — a bit of hassle, plenty of beauty, and a few laughs in between. Come along for the ride!
