After getting to know the Virgin Islands and spending a good amount of time there, professional sailor Lauren Landers has a fantastic weather window to begin heading south and exploring more of the Caribbean islands. During this episode, she discusses her recent experiences and upcoming adventures while bidding farewell to friends who have parted ways with their own boats.Leaving for St. KittsAfter spending a month and a half in the port of Charlotte, Lauren sets sail from there, covering about 130 miles that she anticipates taking around 19 to 24 hours. As nervous as she is about sailing solo after four months without a proper sail, she knows the boat is in excellent condition.Challenges Along the WayDuring her voyage, Lauren encounters some challenges due to unexpected changes in wind angle and heavy rainfall. I am just a girl who followed her dream of buying a sailboat to sail the world! I took the advice my dad gave me "Do what you love and you will never work a day in your life” and try to live this to the fullest every single day. I graduated college during Covid-19 with a marine biology degree and 100T Captain license. I had worked as a captain throughout college on power boats and was invited to sail with some friends in the Bahamas for a couple months. I fell in love with sailing and this lifestyle more than I thought I could; bought my boat a year later (Dec 2021) intending to charter, but decided to start sharing this beautiful life with you❤️
