Sailing Solo to a Secret Paradise in the Virgin Islands [Ep 114]

One of the most rewarding aspects of living on my sailboat is finding myself in secluded anchorages surrounded by crystal clear water and vibrant coral reefs. The Virgin Islands are packed with full-time cruisers and charters, and I can see why; it’s an amazing cruising area.

After spending months there with friends, I found myself with a couple of days free time and a good weather window to find a spot off the beaten path. This adventure didn’t disappoint!

Sailing West in East St John

Good morning, it is blowing at about 15 knots. But that’s not bad for a sailor like me! The wind is coming from the south, so I can set sail westwards towards St John’s South side.

The journey was smooth sailing as Mo approved my plan and helped keep things running.

A Hidden Treasure Revealed

Upon reaching the destination – about 30 miles away – the scenery truly blew me away. Crystal clear waters, depths of 15ft, with a gentle swelly wind wrapping around the area. It was breathtaking!

Relaxing in Paradise

This secret haven lived up to my expectations; the drone captured footage that does justice to its beauty. This is a protected little anchorage surrounded by clear waters – the perfect spot for a bit of Solitude and relaxation.

Anchored In, Powered Up

My sailboat battery power was at an all-time high with batteries charging quickly! It’s a challenge to run my air conditioner while fully using this power, but the reward is worth it as the temperature rises in Summer.

A beautiful bubblegum sunrise filled the sky as I fueled up and prepped for the next adventure. Parents would soon join me on the journey, so it was time to clean the boat and make some final arrangements in town before their arrival.
