BOAT life with FAMILY?! [ep 125]

Sailing Family Style: From Bahamas to Grenada – An Unforgettable Adventure

In the heart of Caribbean waters, Lauren Landers and her family embarked on a life-changing voyage from the sun-kissed shores of the Bahamas to the enchanting island of Grenada. Join us as we delve into their incredible journey filled with both awe-inspiring moments and challenges they had to overcome along the way.

Uncharted Waters

Leaving behind the familiarity of their Bahamas anchorage, Lauren and her family set their sights on Grenada. With limited knowledge about cruising the Caribbean’s islands, they found themselves navigating uncharted waters with a spirit of adventure guiding their way. As they ventured south, the excitement was palpable.

Embracing Challenges

Just two weeks prior to their journey, hurricane Barbara threatened their path. They chose St Lucia as a safe haven, 80 miles north of the storm’s eye. Their experiences during that tumultuous time only strengthened their resolve. Seeing smaller islands directly hit by the hurricane spurred them into action, realizing they needed to contribute to the rebuilding and restoration efforts in Grenada and surrounding areas.

A Bond Strengthened by Adventure

The family’s journey was marked by both memorable adventures and unexpected challenges. From preparing a late breakfast before heading out to explore a favorite reef to dealing with an inconvenient water leak in the boat, every moment tested their resourcefulness and unity. The bonding that occurred during these moments would stay with them forever.

Fish Tales and Memorable Moments

Their trip was not only filled with the excitement of fishing on the way to their next anchorage, where they caught a mahi during Lauren’s nap time. The pristine beauty of one of Lauren’s all-time favorite anchorages in the Bahamas left them awestruck. Dronest footage captured the breathtaking scenes that would remain etched in their memories forever.

Culinary Delights and Snorkeling Adventures

A special dinner featuring mahi tacos, topped with homemade mango sauce, was savored before an exciting snorkeling adventure. Though the GoPro faced issues during their dive, witnessing the stunning reef brought immense joy and fulfillment to their expedition.

Making a Difference

As Lauren and her family wrapped up this memorable journey, they recognized that adventures come with a responsibility. Through their partnership with Rise, they aimed to contribute to rebuilding efforts in Grenada and nearby islands by encouraging volunteering and donations from the community.

Embark on Your Own Adventure

This remarkable sailing journey is a testament to how a family’s bond can grow stronger amidst the challenges of uncharted waters. As you contemplate your next adventure, let this inspiring tale fuel your excitement and preparation. Whether it’s in the serene waters of the Caribbean or beyond, always remember to embrace the moments with those who matter most.

This is the second part of my Bahamas trip with my family.. with MORE to come. It's my favorite place in the world.. and I'm enjoying it more this time being able to relax and spend time with my family.
