June 21, 2024 by Harbors Unknown | Language: EN Play Time: 00:15:58 | SAILING YOUTUBERS

Sailing into the unknown can be both exhilarating and terrifying. What We Found Sailing the Tuamotus episode takes viewers on an adventure to Taha, an uninhabited atoll in the heart of French Polynesia’s Tuamotu archipelago.
Uncharted Paradise
The team behind Harbors Unknown were drawn to this unspoiled paradise by its stunning natural beauty. The pristine waters surrounding the atoll boast some of the best visibility they’ve ever experienced and are teeming with vibrant coral reefs, making it a haven for diving enthusiasts.
Human Connection
While the team initially sought out the Tuamotus to explore its breathtaking landscapes and abundant marine life, they soon discovered that it was the people they encountered along the way that truly made their journey meaningful. The chance to forge friendships with fellow adventurers like those from Delos and Weisel, and connect with locals like the caretaker living on Taha, added a depth of experience that the team found lacking in other sailing destinations.
The Perfect Diving Conditions
A highlight of their time in Taha was experiencing near-perfect conditions for diving. As the tide slowed, they were able to fully appreciate the stunning coral structures beneath the surface, including an impressive display of blacktip sharks, tridacna clams, and bun starfish.
Anchored in Time
During their stay, the team discovered that while they may have sought out this remote paradise for its natural beauty and seclusion, it was the bonds they formed with fellow sailors and locals alike that made this expedition truly unforgettable. This human connection gave their journey a deeper purpose, reminding them of the importance of cherishing each moment together and embracing joy in simple things.
A Culinary Celebration
To celebrate the team’s friend Brian’s birthday, they enjoyed a memorable feast cooked by their friend Fabio. With the catch of the day and a delicious homemade curry prepared on Wandas, everyone gathered together to enjoy a floaty party in honor of the occasion.
Finding Solitude Amidst Adventure
In the midst of this remarkable journey, the team also found solitude – moments for reflection and introspection among their incredible experiences. The open waters provided a perfect backdrop for self-discovery, as each member processed their emotions and feelings.
Embark on Your Own Journey
This episode of Harbors Unknown showcases the breathtaking beauty and unique connection found in remote destinations like the Tuamotus. For those seeking adventure, this captivating exploration will undoubtedly leave viewers yearning to experience a taste of paradise for themselves.
The Next Expedition
As the team packs up and prepares to move on from their time in Taha, they eagerly anticipate their next destination – the Pitcairn Islands. Stay tuned as Harbors Unknown continues to explore uncharted territories around the globe.

What WE FOUND SAILING the Tuamotus
We have sailed to places of incomparable beauty, the kind that stays with you. It’s what first drew us to this life. But as time passed we realized something was missing. We were searching for a different kind of beauty - one more profound and enduring. Human connection. Kindred spirits with a passion for exploring the earth’s unspoiled, natural beauty above and below the surface. This week we find ourselves in Tahanea, an uninhabited atoll, in the Tuamotus Archipelago of French Polynesia. There is a caretaker who lives here part time but other than that, it’s just the coral, fish and other sea creatures beneath the waves and birds, crabs and rats on land. The water here is truly spectacular with some of the best visibility we’ve experienced and some of the most beautiful coral we’ve seen. What’s even better is we’re here with our friends from @svdelos and @WEsail

If you're new here, Harbors Unknown is the story of two dreamers, Kristin & Fabio Potenti, & our dog Yoda. We're a small family living aboard our catamaran, SV Wanderlust, sailing to Harbors Unknown. Exploring the world, connecting with people and places through the local cuisine, and showing how great food can be cooked on a boat with limited space and resources. Seeking to balance the desire to explore and travel to beautiful, remote locations while leaving no footprint, minimizing the Hawthorne effect of the observers who change the environment she or he observes.
We hope to inspire people and showcase the possibility of living an alternative lifestyle that provides freedom and fulfillment, all while keeping it real. Sharing the trials and tribulations of living off-grid, acknowledging the discomfort of detoxing from the modern world, finding pleasure in the subtleties of nature and joy in simplicity. Attempting to understand what makes the world tick and tock but also trying to gain a deeper comprehension of ourselves and identify what will satisfy that hunger for further exploration, for purpose. We have set off on our voyage sailing around the world! Subscribe now to join our sailing adventure.
