The END of SAILING + DIVING as We Know It

The Epic Tale of Sailing and Diving Beyond Boundaries

Embark on an exhilarating journey with professional sailors as they navigate the tumultuous waters and depths of the world’s most captivating harbors. Through their adventures, witness their determination to conquer the challenges posed by their troublesome steering system and unearth the incredible rewards that await them below the waves. Chapter 1: The Perils of Sailing with Flailing Steering The intrepid sailors found themselves facing an unwelcome obstacle – their flailing steering system. Just 250 miles stood between them and a much-needed steering refit, but unwilling to risk hurling their Maramu through the relentless waves crashing against their rudders, they chose patience over haste. Chapter 2: The Wall of Sharks and Bleached Coral A final dive at the famed Wall of Sharks proved to be anything but routine. With rumors of a massive bleaching event plaguing South Pass, they dove into the once-vibrant reef only to witness the devastating effects of rising water temperatures and environmental stress. Chapter 3: Baking Bread for Passage Desperate to conserve their dwindling supplies, the sailors set out on a mission to create hearty spinach pies. They managed to transform a doughy concoction into delightful, flavorful meals that sustained them during these trying times. Chapter 4: The Final Chapter and Dawn of Renewal Despite the trials, the sailors persevered and successfully launched their wing spinnaker. With each attempt, they grew more adept at handling the delicate equipment as they sailed towards Tahiti – a beacon of hope on the horizon. Chapter 5: Arrival and the Indifference of the Sea Their arrival in Tahiti marked a bittersweet victory. Though they had faced adversity at every turn, the sailors recognized that their respect for the sea and cautious approach to navigation had paid off. In this heart-wrenching conclusion, we learn what lies ahead – more adventures, new trials, and perhaps a newfound understanding of life’s most precious gifts. Chapter 6: The Unending Call to Adventure As the sailors step into the unknown, they continue chasing sunsets and exploring uncharted territories. They understand that the sea is indifferent and can be a formidable force – but it also compels them forward with promises of adventure and growth. The Final Chapter: In the Heart of Tahiti In this final chapter, set amidst the bustling streets and tranquil lagoons of Tahiti, our intrepid sailors bask in newfound success – a resolute crew who’ve faced down nature’s fiercest challenges. Amidst the French cheeses, wines, and croissants, they revel in their hard-earned rewards while plotting future expeditions. Epilogue: The Sea’s Indelible Mark on the Soul As their adventure draws to a close, our sailors contemplate the lessons learned during their time on Wandera. They realize that they have grown both personally and as a team, shaped by their experiences at sea. An Authentic Story of Exploration Beyond Boundaries In the spirit of exploration, these sailors forge ahead into uncharted territories. Through their journey, we gain an appreciation for the sea’s indifference – its ability to bring them to their knees only to lift them back up again. We witness firsthand how adventure and challenge intertwine in a beautiful dance, ultimately shaping these explorers and providing unforgettable moments that will stay with us long after our time on the seas.

If you're new here, Harbors Unknown is the story of two dreamers, Kristin & Fabio Potenti, & our dog Yoda. We're a small family living aboard our catamaran, SV Wanderlust, sailing to Harbors Unknown. Exploring the world, connecting with people and places through the local cuisine, and showing how great food can be cooked on a boat with limited space and resources. Seeking to balance the desire to explore and travel to beautiful, remote locations while leaving no footprint, minimizing the Hawthorne effect of the observers who change the environment she or he observes.

We hope to inspire people and showcase the possibility of living an alternative lifestyle that provides freedom and fulfillment, all while keeping it real. Sharing the trials and tribulations of living off-grid, acknowledging the discomfort of detoxing from the modern world, finding pleasure in the subtleties of nature and joy in simplicity. Attempting to understand what makes the world tick and tock but also trying to gain a deeper comprehension of ourselves and identify what will satisfy that hunger for further exploration, for purpose. We have set off on our voyage sailing around the world! Subscribe now to join our sailing adventure.
