Welcome back to Good Deeds Sailing. In today’s episode, we want to give you an update on our progress and share what we’re currently doing to prepare for our journey.
Many of you have been asking about the date when we plan to leave. While we don’t have a specific date yet, we are hopeful that we can depart by the end of June. The exact timing will depend on selling some of our personal belongings, including our cars and caravan, which we currently live in. Our goal is to be ready by the end of June, weather permitting.
As of now, we’re still based in Queenborough, enjoying sunny weather. We’ve got a few jobs left to do before we set sail. One big task on our list is connecting the water heater up to the engine. This will allow us to have hot showers while traveling through France’s canals. It’s a bit of work that involves drilling some holes in specific areas to route the hoses, but it’s worth the effort.
Other tasks include fitting a cradle for our life raft, which is currently sunbathing in the corner. We also need to replace the gas bottles with smaller French ones, known as camping gaz. There are always some jobs to do on a boat, and we’ll be focusing on safety-related tasks before we depart.
Our new spray hood has been keeping us protected from the rain. As with any good sailing setup, it needs regular maintenance and cleaning, which is an ongoing process. Recently, we’ve also installed spice racks near our cooking area for easy access to spices while we’re sailing.
We have been searching for shelves to store some of our books, but finding the right size has proven difficult. If you’ve come across any similar shelves or know where we can find them, please let us know in the comments below!
A huge thank you goes out to all of our viewers who sent messages and showed support during my recent recovery period. Your encouragement means a lot to us, and it has given us even more motivation to complete our journey.
We also want to extend a special thanks to Joe Strange for all his help, support, and assistance in taking care of some personal belongings, such as our cars and tools.
