Christmas Eve looks a little different when you’re mid-ocean.
We finally get a break from rough seas and use the calm to catch up on life onboard—laundry day in full swing, homemade salt-dough ornaments, baking traditions from both our families, and celebrating Dingo’s 10th birthday under the sun. It’s hot, peaceful, and almost feels normal… until it doesn’t.
Partway through the day we realize the engine alternator isn’t charging the batteries, forcing us to lean on redundancy systems and rethink power management. Later, the swell builds again just in time for what might be the hardest Christmas dinner ever cooked on a moving sailboat.
From calm swells and cozy holiday vibes to big seas, water shortages, and cooking through chaos—this is Christmas Eve offshore, exactly as it happened.
