Installing our rudder once again…This is a huge step in restoring our salvaged sailboat back to her former glory. It really should have been pretty easy, but nothing ever is. The lower bearing (bushing!) would not stay in place, nor stay the right size. We had to channel all our inner MacGyver to pull it off before we no longer had the travel lift to help. Soon enough we’ll be sailing…but not without a rudder 🙂

Here’s what we *think* we know about her past. Keep in mind we bought her at auction without ever meeting the owner! The owner was sailing along and ran aground – hard. Hard enough that the keel pivoted and pushed the aft end up into the hull. This force cracked the internal grid in several places and broke a portion of the grid free from hull.
