SAILING to MADAGASCAR’S forgotten islands… We leave Bassas da India disappointed that we couldn’t find safe anchorage and set sail for the remote Barren Isles Archipelago. This group of flat coral islands are off the west coast of Madagascar and inhabited by the Vezo people.
After a week at sea, we arrive at the southern most island in the group called Nosy Lava and, once anchored and settled in, a local fisherman and his son paddle up to SeaScape and we barter some fishing hooks, line, water and an old tee shirt for some fresh octopus – which Robin then creates into a tasty dish….
