There is only one, true house of the dragon on this planet and it’s located in Indonesia’s Komodo National Park. On these stunning volcanic islands survivors of the dinosaur age still live and thrive.
We first walked amongst the Komodo Dragons back in 2010 when we sailed here on the Panisi Umbah Puti and now in 2023 we were back after sailing here on our own yacht, Our Dreamtime, and keen to see one of the earth’s rarest animals once more.
But Komodo National Park holds many other treasures including a diverse range of wildlife, breath taking views from Padar Island, stunning red coral infused Pink Beaches, and an amazing underwater habitat where you can drift along with huge Manta Rays at Manta Point and swim amongst beautiful Turtles and prolific fish life at the Coral Gardens. We even found Nemo. Join us as we set out to experience it all.

On our recent visit, we were escorted by an experienced national park guide and had the chance to observe several of these impressive dragons close-up. Our guide enlightened us about their unique hunting habits and their adaptability which helps maintain a stable population numbering around 1,500.
The Enchanting Pink Beach
After our dragon encounters, we visited one of the park’s most famous attractions – Pink Beach. The vibrant coloration comes from microscopic red coral fragments washed ashore, mixing with golden sands to create this mesmerizing view.

We were lucky enough to swim alongside these fascinating creatures and even had an incredible time swimming with turtles at the renowned Coral Garden. The marine life here is thriving, boasting a wide variety of exotic fish and other species.
