Ep131. In this episode of Cruising Off Duty, we sail to Clayton NY, which is a beautiful little town on the shores of the St Lawrence river, in the 1000 Islands area.
Last year there was record flood levels that decimated many towns along the waterfront. Most Towns had their city docks underwater so the tourism they usually get from the water was eliminated.
This year the water levels are back to normal and we will spend this sailing season going back to many of those towns again to see how they are to visit, now that things are back to normal.
When we visited Clayton last year, we ended up eating at a waterfront restaurant called Bella’s, and it was very nice. The high water levels did not seem to be affecting business at all. Little did we know there were huge efforts going on behind the scenes to keep the restaurant running as the Kitchen (which was located in the basement) was flooded.
The owner, Melissa, will explain in this episode, what she had to do to find a way to keep her doors open by setting up a makeshift kitchen adjacent to her restaurant.
Hope you enjoy the episode. If so, give it a thumbs up, share the video link with friends and subscribe to the channel for more videos covering the beauty of the 1000 Islands.
