After years of filming with the Panasonic GH4 and GH5 and investing in the Panasonic Lenses, I have finally decided to switch to Sony. I just bought the Sony A7iii and that means investing in an entirely new line of lenses. It is not cheap! The reason? WEll, I just couldn’t put up with Panasonic’s unreliable Autofocus anymore. To get smooth shots you often want to put your camera on a gimbal but then you are swinging the camera around and not manually focussing and that means you have to trust that your autofocus will stay in focus and nut “hunt” for focus and ruining your shots.
Sony is known for amazing autofocus but that does not mean that my GH5 is going in the garbage or going to collect dust. Far from it. There are still a lot of things that the Panasonic GH5 does better than the Sonys.
Watch this episode to find out more, especially if you are looking to get into DSLR style cameras for photo and video.
