Ep83. In this episode of Cruising Off Duty we sail across Lake Ontario to visit Oswego NY. It was our first time visiting this city and we did not know what to expect or what it had to offer other than it is the city that you go to in order to enter the Erie Canal System. The Erie Canal and Hudson River is the route you would take to get your boat through the inland passage to NY city on the east coast. This is the route many Canadians take to get their boat to the southern United States and the Caribbean and back each winter.
Oswego is more industrial than the other waterfront towns we have visited with the landscape was filled with factories with smokestacks and a nearby Nuclear Power plant belching steam into the air, but, what it lacked in waterfront beauty it made up for in having plenty of stores, restaurants and bars to satisfy any boater’s needs to get off their boat and stretch their legs and to re-provision their boat.
Not only do we bike around Oswego to explore it from the ground we also get the Mavic Pro drone up to see what the waterfront looks like from the air.
