Exploring Lake Ontario Pt6. Oakville is beautiful but we had a night time intruder board our boat.

In this 6th episode of the Exploring Lake Ontario Series, we are exploring Oakville Ontario with is a clean and beautiful city west of Toronto. We have never been to Oakville by boat and we try to decide between anchoring out overnight or tying to a public wall. We chose the wall which had the benefit of allowing us to go explore the city by foot and by bike without needing to dinghy to shore each time. Unfortunately the result was that we were boarded at night. Once the thief realized we were sleeping onboard he quickly left but it was a learning lesson. Even in what seem like a safe, affluent area, if you tie up to a public wall with no security you do run the risk of prospective thieves coming aboard at night seeing what they can take. We do not want this to reflect poorly on Oakville. We loved the city that seemed to have a lot of to do close to the water for any boater that choses to visit, but things like this can happen in any city if you present your boat as an easy target.
