Sand Makers: While eating algae, they scrape off coral particles. A single fish can poop out up to 250 grams of sand a day and 90 kilograms a year!.
Crunch Sound: They are so loud when nibbling on corals that you can hear the “crunch crunch” from many meters away underwater.
Organized Swimmers: Interestingly, they gather in huge groups based strictly on their size.
Constant Growth: Their teeth grow throughout their entire lives to handle all that coral scraping.
Giant Species: The Humphead parrotfish can grow up to 1.3 meters in length.
