Maine or the Caribbean? (Calico Skies Sailing, Ep 76)

With our summer boat projects complete it’s time to get down to the business of exploring Maine. Our first stop is a sweet anchorage bordering Acadia National Park where we reunite with several members of TTYC, our quarantine crew from the Bahamas (Ada, Avalon, and Delos)
It’s amazing to be anchored off a renowned park like Acadia with access to the trail system via dinghy. We waste no time hitting the trails where we are treated to some amazing views of our anchorage below.
After getting our fill of hiking in Acadia we decide to head further east to more remote areas of Maine. Despite it being the end of September we cannot resist the urge to find more adventure “Down East” as it is called in Maine.
We set sail towards Roque Island, an island knows for it’s expansive white beaches, like something out of the Caribbean. The trip to Roque has to be one of our best sails of the season with perfect conditions to fly our asymmetric kite. We drop the hook off Roque Island and the views do not disappoint, making the trip further east well worth it!
