It All Led Up To This Moment

Solo Sailing Journey From Caru To Grenada On Shak M

It was over a year ago when I last sailed the boat, and now here we are, back on Shak M, reflecting on the lessons learned during this solo sailing journey from Caru to Grenada. It all started with hard work and determination to make this boat a solid cruising vessel. Through various challenges along the way, we discovered how changing the heading makes all the difference.

Preparing For The Journey

We’ve done a lot of work to get Shak M in top sailing condition. All the necessary upgrades and repairs have been completed, thanks to our family, friends, patrons, subscribers, comments, and messages. These continuous words of encouragement kept me going during tough times.

Embracing The Trade Winds

This was the only opportunity I had to take Shak M out for a sail, so we took advantage of the favorable trade winds blowing from the East. We sailed through the waters, with the current helping us maintain an average speed of 5-6 knots.

Conquering Challenges Together

Sailing alone may sound scary at times but being surrounded by supportive friends and family members makes it feel like a community adventure. Their messages, comments, and interactions provide the needed confidence and motivation.

Navigating The Challenging Waters

As we sailed down south from Caru to Grenada, we encountered challenging waters with breaking waves, white caps, and strong currents. At times like this, it becomes important to trust our skills and instincts while maintaining a positive outlook on life.

Final Thoughts

This journey has taught us the importance of perseverance, adaptability, teamwork, and gratitude. Despite all the challenges faced during this solo sailing adventure from Caru to Grenada, we couldn’t have done it without the love, support, and encouragement received from our family, friends, patrons, subscribers, and fellow boaters.

So thank you once again for being part of this exciting journey on Shak M. Your constant words of motivation kept me pushing through rough times during this voyage. Let’s continue to explore the vast waters together as we make memories that last a lifetime!

The journey back to this sailboat was a long and hard road. After returning there was much work to be done. Then we had to put our DIY to the test with a few shakedowns and finally, I get to enjoy the fruits of my labor!
