Breaking Waves: Sailing Across the Pacific Ocean – Up the Mast at Sea!
After months of preparation and fixing up their AA sailboat, Ben and Ali are finally ready to set off on their adventure of a lifetime – sailing across the Pacific Ocean from Punta Mexico to French Polynesia. Join them as they recount the day they’ve been waiting for and embark on this monumental journey.
A Perfect Start
The morning of their departure dawns bright and sunny in Punta Mexico. Their tanks, fridges, and supplies are full as they feel as prepared as they’ll ever be for this epic crossing. Despite some minor setbacks like having fuel line issues that needed fixing just hours before departing, their excitement far outweighs any last-minute problems. With a final ‘good luck’ from friends and family via phone calls, Ben and Ali set sail into the horizon.
A Journey to Remember
Ben and Ali quickly fall into their new routine of sailing life. They revel in the beautiful weather, soaking up the stunning Sunsets, napping whenever possible, and carefully maintaining their sailboat as it slices through the ocean waters.
The Code D Install – Up the Mast at Sea
Not everything goes smoothly. After 24 hours, a problem with their Code D sail emerges as it begins to chafe near the mast exit point. Rather than letting it worsen, they decide on a daring move – to have Ali climb up the mast and rectify the issue herself. Using her climbing skills, she successfully addresses the chafing point and removes the culprit, allowing them to continue their journey without further problems.
Into the Horizon
Beneath a beautiful sky filled with stars, Ben and Ali keep watch as they sail across this vast ocean. While some rough weather is expected along their route, they remain hopeful for smooth sailing ahead.
The Importance of Preparation
From fixing up their sailboat to upgrading equipment and supplies in the preceding months, Ben and Ali’s dedication is evident. Their meticulous preparation ensures they’re ready for any situation that arises while at sea.
The Adventure Continues
With many miles still ahead, Ben and Ali continue to navigate the vast Pacific Ocean, keeping viewers updated on their progress. They face both big challenges and beautiful moments as they pursue their dream of reaching French Polynesia. This is one adventure you don’t want to miss!
