We’ve been at sea for 7 days now; our bodies have found a rhythm of sleeping 4 hours at a time and eating whenever and whatever we feel like. Time has become a haze that is hard to measure, and though we spend all our time together, it feels like we don’t see each other much. Each day is spent looking at weather, strategizing, and changing sales to match.
Everyday life at sea consists of various activities. While navigating the 10 to 20-knot Northern trades, sailors must constantly monitor their course and adjust sails accordingly. As they travel south towards the doldrums and further to the Marasin Islands, these adjustments become more frequent.
The majority of each day is spent with a line in the water, fishing. While sometimes the fish seem elusive, the excitement never fades when they finally catch one. The challenge lies in reeling them in quickly and efficiently to avoid losing the catch.
Due to the limited sleeping hours, the sailors have adapted to a unique routine. They manage to sleep 4 hours at a time and wake up ready to face another day on the water. Despite their busy schedule, they try to eat whenever they feel like it, adapting to life on board.
Adapting to this new rhythm allows them to fully embrace the beauty of sailing and exploring the vast Pacific Ocean. Every day brings new challenges and experiences that help them learn more about themselves and their capabilities.
Sailing for 7 days across the Pacific Ocean helps build a strong bond between the sailors, despite not seeing each other much. Together they tackle the daily challenges and navigate towards their destination, creating unforgettable memories together.
This 7-day journey is just a taste of the many adventures that await them on their voyage. The experiences and lessons learned during this time will stay with them forever.
Ahead lies the doldrums and further to the Marasin Islands. With each day, they move closer to their destination, eagerly anticipating what lies ahead.
