July 4th Celebration in the Pacific Northwest Part 2 | Boating Journey

Join Scott and Ally of the Boating Journey YouTube channel as they return to the Pacific Northwest for an action-packed Fourth of July weekend. This time, they’re taking on a challenge that’s hotter than the summer sun: the Hot Ones Wings Challenge!

The Perfect Pacific Northwest Weekend

Having recently moved to Southern Florida, Scott and Ally find themselves eager to explore new boating opportunities in the Caribbean. But first, they head back to their favorite boating destination in the Pacific Northwest for a spectacular Fourth of July celebration.

Hot Ones Wings Challenge – A Spicy Start

In true adventure spirit, Scott and Ally decide to kick off their final day with the Hot Ones Wings Challenge. This infamous challenge features increasingly spicy chicken wings and has been featured on First We Feast’s popular interview show.

Bracing the Heat

The couple starts with wings that pack a whopping 168,000 Scoville heat units. Throughout the challenge, they face a variety of sauces ranging from fiery flavors to ones infused with ginger and even a mystery sauce with an undisclosed Scoville rating.

An Unexpected Journey

Although they face some intensely hot wings, Scott and Ally manage to push through the challenge with style. Despite the heat, they share their thoughts on each sauce’s flavor profile and debate which ones would work well in their own kitchen.

Beauty and Adventure in the Pacific Northwest

Between tackling hot wings, Scott and Ally make the most of their weekend by boating, crabbing, and beach hopping. The stunning scenery, with Mount Baker as a backdrop, perfectly complements the beautiful weather they experience – a rarity for this region.

A Crabbing Expedition

The couple’s crabbing adventure proves fruitful as they successfully catch three keeper crabs. Their catch is then prepared by a friendly local who shares some intriguing insights into crab cooking methods, including dropping the crustaceans directly into boiling water.

The Perfect Ending

A highlight of their weekend is sampling “Big Dick’s Oyster Sauce,” a highly anticipated dish that pairs perfectly with oysters. As the sun sets, Scott and Ally watch fireworks while enjoying the beach ambiance and reminiscing about their previous boating adventures in the area.

The Journey Continues

This incredible weekend marks the end of their Pacific Northwest visit but the beginning of a new chapter for Scott and Ally in Southern Florida. As they prepare to head back to their boat, they reflect on what an extraordinary celebration it’s been and thank their viewers for joining them on this journey.

In episode 244 Scott and I wrap up our trip to Seattle to celebrate the July 4th weekend with Ally's family at Tyee Beach on Camano Island on Port Susan Bay. The weather was gorgeous. Scott participated in a hot wing eating contest, we went cruising and crabbing on Port Susan and wrapped things up with a crab fest featuring freshly caught Dungeness crab with our family and friends.

The best time to visit the PNW is summer time when all of the mountains are out and the skies are blue.
