2018 Azimut 72 Velocity Boat Tour

This week on Boating Journey, we have the pleasure of touring a remarkable yacht, the 2018 Azimut 72 named ‘Velocity’. Measuring an impressive Length Overall (LOA) of 72 feet with a Beam of 17 feet, Velocity offers ample space for luxurious relaxation and engaging entertainment at sea. With accommodation for eight guests across four ensuite cabins, including a primary VIP suite and two guest cabins – one featuring a double bed – this vessel truly embodies sophistication on the water.

Underneath its stylish exterior, Velocity is powered by twin Man CRV1 12’s with an impressive 1400 horsepower. Her engines allow her to reach speeds of up to 32 knots, ensuring swift travel across different waters. A cruising speed of 26 knots ensures a balance between efficiency and comfort.

Boating Journey’s hosts, Scott and Ally, bring viewers along for the detailed exploration of Velocity. Though they own two boats in the Pacific Northwest, their recent move to Southern Florida presents new boating opportunities, including the chance to explore the Caribbean – one of their favorites.

The exterior of this Azimut yacht showcases practicality combined with luxury. A port-side staircase offers convenient boarding access accompanied by thick stocks, which indicate a durable construction. The cockpit area is designed for up to eight guests, ensuring there’s space enough for everyone to enjoy the marine adventure. Extending from the starboard transom are stairs leading to a passerelle, facilitating easy boarding when mooring med-style.

Walk along the teak walkways leading towards the bow, where additional u-shaped seating and Fender storage enhance comfort and functionality. A windlass secures anchorage in various locations effortlessly.

The flybridge offers ample space for relaxation or navigation duties, complete with an adjustable sun lounge, barbecue station, L-shaped seating, a wet bar, and the helm station equipped with advanced Raymarine electronics.

Moving inside, guests will appreciate the high-end design throughout. Upon entry, you’ll find an extensive bar to starboard accompanied by luxurious seating options in both port and starboard corners of the main salon. A modern table sits elegantly behind the sofa, accompanied by a pop-up TV and surround sound system.

The galley is situated forward with abundant storage space for ingredients and cookware. Equipped with all necessary amenities like a microwave, convection oven, induction cooktop, refrigerator, freezer, and dishwasher, it’s well-stocked to cater for guests’ needs.

The dinette seats eight comfortably beneath a glass table that helps maintain an open feeling in the space. In addition, access from the side door allows entry without disturbing the captain seated at the lower helm station. Advanced electronics are visible in this area too, providing full visibility over Velocity’s controls.

As you descend further into the accommodations, four lavish ensuite cabins await – a primary VIP suite with queen bed and ensuite featuring a large shower, toilet, and vanity; two guest cabins that share amenities or feature individual configurations; and another twin-bedded cabin sharing facilities. Each cabin boasts ample storage space for luggage and personal items.

The primary suite showcases opulent luxury, complete with a sitting area to starboard, an extravagant king-sized bed, state-of-the-art surround sound system with hidden TV behind mirrors, and abundant built-in shelving and storage throughout. The luxurious ensuite is equipped with dual sink vanity units topped off by a spa-like rain shower.
