We Tour a Norseman 447: Is This the Perfect Offshore Sailboat? | A $139,500 Bob Perry Classic

Why do so many sailors love the Norseman 447? In this episode of BoatFools Sailing, Green Mountain Josh returns for his first full boat tour in quite some time as we step aboard Topaz, a beautifully maintained 1984 Norseman 447—one of legendary designer Robert Perry's most respected offshore cruising sailboats.

Built by Ta Shing in Taiwan, the Norseman 447 has earned a reputation as a serious bluewater passagemaker. With her solid hand-laid fiberglass construction, encapsulated ballast, skeg-hung rudder, cutter rig, and comfortable center cockpit layout, it's easy to see why these boats continue to be sought after by experienced cruisers more than 40 years after they were built.

Green Mountain Josh and I absolutely loved touring this boat, and after stepping aboard, you'll understand why so many offshore sailors continue to speak so highly of the Norseman 447.

Topaz is the desirable center cockpit version featuring:

Spacious aft owner's cabin
Three private cabins
Sleeps six comfortably
Large fuel and water capacity for extended cruising
New dodger and bimini
New electric toilets
New standing rigging (2025)
Numerous recent upgrades
Available mooring in beautiful Rockport Harbor, Maine for the remainder of the season!

Whether you're dreaming of crossing oceans, cruising the Maine coast, or simply appreciate exceptionally well-built classic sailboats, this Norseman 447 deserves a close look.
