This CLASSIC Sailboat Is A SUPER Deal! She's going to take some work but her bones, sails, and electrical & mechanical systems are all good. In fact, her Universal diesel has less than 150 hours on it. Her sails are in good-great shape, and her dodger is also in good shape. She has new batteries (both house and starter), and a new alternator. Within the past 10 years, she received a new mast and standing rigging, and much more. She could be sailed away now, but to get her back into great shape, you're going to want to do some work. The major job is replacing the original cork cabin sole that was damaged by water intrusion last spring. You'll also want to sand and varnish the exterior brightwork, followed by her interior woodwork. Lastly, you'll probably want to paint her topsides and deck - but there's no rush on this!
525 of these Sparkman & Stephens designed Tartan 34Cs were made between 1968 and 1978. She was a very successful design for Tartan and she won many races, including the Marblehead to Halifax Race, and she competed in other offshore sailboat races such as the Newport to Bermuda Race. A capable sailboat, with a good turn of speed for her size (and age), she will be an ideal boat for a solo sailor, couple, or a small family. And she's capable of going anywhere. With her shoal draft keel that only draws 4 feet when her centerboard is up, and 8 feet when it's down, the options are limitless.
