Six Boats. One Atlantic Dream. Why He Chose a Cape Dory 36.

Welcome back BoatFools Nation! This one is a little different—and exactly the kind of story we love.

Back in February, Andrew flew all the way from Norway to Maine with a dream: find the right sailboat and sail her home across the Atlantic.

CHAPTERS:

00:00 Intro
00:25 Meet Andrew
04:21 Tour of the Cape Dory 36
09:56 Below Decks on the Cape Dory 36
13:20 Meet The Crew
14:35 Outro

No pressure.

Over the course of a whirlwind boat hunt, we looked at six very different boats: a Victoria 34, Hinckley Pilot 35, Sea Sprite 34, Allied Seabreeze 35 Citation, Bristol 35.5, and finally a Cape Dory 36. Different designs, different strengths, different personalities—but only one felt right for the journey ahead.

In this episode, we walk through Andrew's decision process, take a brief look around the Cape Dory 36 that ultimately won him over, and then join him for the next chapter as he meets his crew—people he had never actually met before stepping aboard in Camden, Maine.

Then comes the moment every sailor understands: lines off, fair winds, and heading for the horizon.

First stop: Nova Scotia.
Final destination: Norway.
