Sailing Along The Cornish Coast, Episode 4: A Trip to Polperro
Greetings from the Big Ocean Small Boat crew!
This Tuesday episode looks back on our trip to Polperro, setting off from Plymouth and sailing along the Cornish coast. This was my first trip and with 25 knots of wind from the North, we blasted West along the Cornish coast to Polperro where we spent the night before returning to Plymouth.
In a flat sea with lots of wind, we zoomed along very comfortably with just the largest genoa.
This is Louisa I’m one of the crew, due to the current lockdown I am unable to be around the boat, so this is a nostalgic edit produced by me looking back at my first trip.

13,000 kilometers under our keel already, with our 3/4 tonner Nicholson that was built in the UK 45 years ago as a race boat. With several Atlantic crossings under her belt we're now going for the big one. A circumnavigation. Partnered with OceanOps, an association supported by UNESCO, we'll be providing ocean data as we make our way around the world. This data is used by a host of operations,, some of which keep the flow of freight across our oceans moving seamlessly. Most of us at some point use items that have travelled by sea, food, household items, cars and raw materials all cross oceans by sea. Also this data is used to monitor changes in our climate.
