Part 2. We took the long route to avoid the Orca attacks that have been taking place on sailboats in this region and to avoid shipping and fishing fleets. Also to give ourselves sea room and not be worried about how close the shore is, if we have to stop the boat 200 hundred miles offshore we could drift for several days whilst making a repair and not be concerned with traffic and rocks.

Big Ocean Small Boat
13,000 kilometers under our keel already, with our 3/4 tonner Nicholson that was built in the UK 45 years ago as a race boat. With several Atlantic crossings under her belt we're now going for the big one. A circumnavigation. Partnered with OceanOps, an association supported by UNESCO, we'll be providing ocean data as we make our way around the world. This data is used by a host of operations,, some of which keep the flow of freight across our oceans moving seamlessly. Most of us at some point use items that have travelled by sea, food, household items, cars and raw materials all cross oceans by sea. Also this data is used to monitor changes in our climate.
