ULTRASONIC Antifouling: Will it Work?? (S3 E3 Barefoot Sail and Dive)

In this weeks episode of Barefoot Sail and Dive we install a super cool bit of technology! It’s called Smart System Ultrasonic Antifouling. We have the two transducer version for now so we can do a comparison between the two sides of our boat to see how well it works.

We have installed in on the port side of the boat as we have heard it makes a bit of a click noise. We didn’t want to have this on our side of the boat for sleeping purposes.

The idea of it is it produces a signal that creates little bubbles of air on the outside of the hull to deter critters from living there, ultimately keeping your hull cleaner over time. We will see how it well it works over the course of the next weeks/months!
