In this week’s episode of Barefoot Travels S6 E7, ‘Let’s Beat the Heat – Part 2’, Erica and Davey continue their mission to cool down their hurricane-damaged catamaran. Last week they started the process of installing window shades to keep their boat comfortable, now in part two, we’ll see them finish the installation with the help of an amazing DIY product.
After taking out their temporary car window shades for testing purposes, the couple can definitely feel the difference in temperature and overall boat ambiance. To make their boating experience even more enjoyable and practical, they decide to install sun shades permanently using a fantastic DIY kit called EZ SNAP.
With precision and care, Erica and Davey follow the kit’s instructions for installing the shades. First, they need to cut the material into rough sizes according to a template provided by the company. Once that’s done, they proceed to carefully place each piece onto the windows, using a white pencil for accurate placement and a little creative genius for fitting corners.
The couple emphasizes how much easier it is to install the shades than they had expected, taking only about 3 minutes per window. Not only do these DIY sun shades keep the boat cool and cozy during Caribbean heat, but they also protect their valuable windows from UV damage, making their boat look even more aesthetic.
In the week that follows the installation, they track a significant decrease in temperature inside the boat, dropping from 91° to 82°. With nightfall, although some light filters through the shades, sufficient privacy is maintained.
Erica and Davey are extremely satisfied with the performance of EZ SNAP sun shades on their boat. They recommend it for other boat owners looking to keep their boats cooler while improving aesthetics.
If you are thinking about ways to beat the heat on your own boat or simply looking for a way to add some pizzazz, consider DIYing EZ SNAP window shades. They offer both practicality and aesthetics at an affordable price point!
