Beating the Heat on Hurricane-Damaged Catamaran – Part 1

Welcome to part one of our journey where we embark on the mission to beat the heat on our hurricane-damaged catamaran, Barefoot. In this week’s episode, my adventurous partner and I, Erica & Davey, take on the task that is revitalizing a storm-battered vessel while continuing our travels in warm climates.

Our last two hurricane seasons have been spent in the balmy Bahama Islands and now we find ourselves in the Dominican Republic. While we’re fans of sunny escapades, we can’t ignore how sweltering it becomes inside our boat. This time around, we sought out solutions and that’s where Easy Snap enters the frame, offering their technology claimed to reduce internal heat by up to 15°.

Join us as we clean and apply this new window covering system, putting its effectiveness to the test in sunny locales. The experiment involves not only adjusting our living quarters’ interior but also maintaining a stylish and functional vessel ready for further explorations.

About Our Previous Attempts

In previous episodes, we have experimented with various methods to alleviate the heat inside Barefoot. One notable effort was utilizing perforated plastic as window coverings, allowing a balance between sunlight visibility and privacy. Despite offering some relief, these makeshift solutions came with drawbacks, including the challenge of maintaining color vibrancy.

Easy Snap Window Covering Solution

We’re optimistic that the Easy Snap technology could significantly improve our living situation aboard Barefoot. After a thorough clean-up to prepare each window area, we embarked on applying the primer stick to ensure the adhesive backing properly adheres to both PVC and glass surfaces. This step is critical for the installation of Easy Snap’s fabric material, which claims enhanced insulation properties against heat.

Throughout this journey, it’s not just about the technical aspects but also the creativity in making our home aboard Barefoot more comfortable while sailing through different warm climates. The upcoming episodes will showcase before and after comparisons to determine how effectively the Easy Snap solution cools down our catamaran’s interior.

Papaya Leaf Extract – A Cure for Dengue Fever

In case you missed it, I (Davey) recently contracted Dengue fever during one of our stops. Fortunately, traditional remedies like papaya leaf extract proved to be a game-changer in my recovery. This potent natural remedy not only eased symptoms but also significantly reduced the duration of illness from an expected 10 days down to just 3 days. It’s quite remarkable!

If you find yourself or someone you know battling Dengue, don’t hesitate to try papaya leaf extract; it might be the miracle potion we all need in these tropical sailing adventures.

Next Week on Barefoot Travels

As our viewers await the final installation and impact of the Easy Snap window covers, stay tuned for more sailing escapades. We’ll be documenting how the application transforms the interior environment, as well as providing insights into potential adjustments to maximize benefits in varying weather conditions.

Support Rise Grenada Event

In an effort to aid communities affected by hurricanes like Barrel that have devastated the islands of Grenada and the Northern Grenadines, we’ll be participating in a fundraising event on Sunday. This initiative is aimed at helping restore houses, businesses, and the vibrant sailing culture that these islands are renowned for.

Please join us in this noble cause to support Rise Grenada by attending our live stream where we team up with other YouTube channels. Your presence can make a significant difference to those affected. Let’s come together to rebuild and continue sharing the love of sailing!
