On the Hard 1.2: Converting Force 10 Oven to Gimbal & Prop Shaft Cont'd

I originally bought this old non-gimballed Force 10 oven at a used marine garage sale a year ago and thought it may take a weekend to install. It turns out working on a boat while living on it is harder than I thought. Thanks to Malcom at Trotac Marine for passing on the gimbal kit, this process was pretty smooth now that I have the boat ripped apart and with my dad’s help.
Otherwise, I brought in some muscle to help take the prop shaft out, which I didn’t actually finish last time!
Spray is a Jason 35′ currently on the hard in Comox, BC. I am prepping her to head move aboard in August, 2019 and sail south to Mexico in 2020. My dad, Farrell has been helping me prep the boat (stay tuned for a tour of their Formosa 51!)
Spray has sailed to Tahiti and back with a previous owner and I have sailed to Hawaii and back on my dad’s boat. Hopefully between her (the boat) and I (who pretends to know what I am talking about), can figure this whole cruising life out!

Tyler and Kayleen left Campbell River, BC summer 2022 on their 1981 Tartan 42’ after spending two years preparing for this journey! Tyler is a bilateral below knee amputee, adapting to the sailing lifestyle with humility. He is a gold medalist in the Beijing 2022 Snowboard Cross. Kayleen grew up cruising with her parents and comes from a family of Mariners. Although she comes from a marketing background, she now is a commercial scuba diver and writes sailing articles on the side.
