BOAT LIFE: A Power Struggle. | Expedition Evans 61

Our boat life power struggle has led us to a massive lithium battery upgrade!! Lugging around hydraulic cable crimpers is second only to lugging around dozens of 4/0 lugs. Really though, every step of this project has taken just a little longer than we expect. Not because anything broke or got lost, but because everything is just a little bit harder on a boat. Going to a store takes a little more time, a little more effort. But I think because of that required extra effort, even small things like flipping the switch and lights coming on feel oh so much more rewarding.

Here’s what we *think* we know about her past. Keep in mind we bought her at auction without ever meeting the owner! The owner was sailing along and ran aground – hard. Hard enough that the keel pivoted and pushed the aft end up into the hull. This force cracked the internal grid in several places and broke a portion of the grid free from hull.
