The Adventurous Evans Crew: Sailing the World Aboard SV Sea Pass
Meet the intrepid Evans family—Jade and Brett Evans, accompanied by their sailor dogs, Dingo and Penny, embarking on a remarkable journey to sail the world.
A Long-Awaited Dream: From Hurricane-Damaged Hopes to a Dream Boat
Years ago, the Evans set a formidable goal: to purchase a sailboat and circumnavigate the globe. Their dream included acquiring a salvaged project boat, one they could restore and call their own. While they initially anticipated finding a hurricane-damaged vessel, their search after Hurricane Dorian proved fruitless.
SV Sea Pass: A Salvaged Gem
Now, after five years of steadfast determination, the Evans family has realized their dream. They’ve acquired SV Sea Pass—a salvaged 2008 Beneteau 49, in even better condition than they dared hope. It’s precisely what they were searching for—a sailboat cherished by its previous owner yet in dire need of restoration.
The Journey Begins: Fiberglass Challenges and Excitement
While the road ahead is fraught with fiberglass challenges, the Evans family relishes working on projects together and eagerly anticipates transforming this vessel into their home for upcoming expeditions.
The Evans have a multitude of repairs in store, realizing it’s a considerable undertaking, given the boat’s size. The extensive process includes grinding gel coat, fiberglass work, glue application, and, of course, more fiberglass. They’ve become regulars at local hardware stores, consumed countless packs of sanding disks, respirators, protective suits, gallons of acetone, pounds of silica, jugs of epoxy, and hundreds of feet of fiberglass mat.
A Bright Future Awaits: Restoration and World Exploration
While the project remains a work in progress, their aim is to have it fully restored by March 2021. They’re committed to building it even sturdier than the factory standard to ensure such damage never recurs. Their ultimate goal? Setting sail for an around-the-world voyage, exploring numerous destinations, meeting diverse people, experiencing remarkable things, and living life to the absolute fullest.
An Incredible Transformation: Sailboat to Off-Grid Tiny Home
The Evans have accomplished a remarkable feat—transforming a salvage sailboat into an off-grid tiny home on the water. And now, they’re sailing it around the world!
Setting Sail for a Global Odyssey
They express their immense gratitude for your support, sharing their exhilarating journey with everyone. They’re thrilled to be living the dream they’ve diligently pursued and are eager to encapsulate their life in these videos for all to enjoy.
