The Crew

Jonas and Gillian from the SV Blue Moon share an honest look at the benefits and challenges they are facing as liveaboards and share stories and videos about sailing, liveaboard, travel, and alternative living.

SV Blue Moon is a 1978 Catalina 30. Her engine is a Universal M25 Diesel. Blue Moon Life is a team of two: Gillian and Jonas. The boat was acquired in the spring of 2020 and many hours of labor were given to get her live-aboard ready! The boat is now home for Jonas and Gillian and so far they love it!

Since the fall of 2020 Jonas and Gillian living aboard Blue Moon in beautiful Victoria, BC. They are grateful to be able to live, work and study from the boat. This is their first time living aboard and they are loving it so far. The "boat life" has some unique challenges, but Jonas and Gillian are slowly learning how to optimize the use and enjoyment of the small space.

Jonas and Gillian make YouTube videos about their life living aboard a 30ft sailboat, traveling, and alternative living. They have big dreams for this channel, but right now they are focused on learning how to produce high-quality, meaningful vlogs that share their real lives. In the future, we hope to broaden our scope with collaborations, and community projects, and - one day in the far-off distance - we hope to create our own homestead where we can live and learn in connection with our values of autonomy, resilience, and sustainability.

In the meantime, their goal is to produce at least one vlog a week, but hopefully more! They are still learning how to film and edit and have limited time and gear to make high-quality videos. One day they hope to earn a full-time living from producing content, but for now, they are both either full-time students or employees. Gillian is finishing her undergraduate degree in Biology and Environmental Studies and Jonas works full-time for the BC Wildfire Service.

Jonas and Gillian created a Patreon page because they want to move away from ad-based support and towards direct community support (crowdfunding). One of the goals for this page is that Jonas and Gillian would be able to earn enough income to reduce the time they need to work "traditional" jobs so they can focus on producing videos...but all in due time. The main thing you get from becoming a Patron is access to AD-FREE videos, because everyone hates YouTube and Google Ads! Thanks so much for reading this and for being here. If you decide to support Jonas and Gillian directly, know that they are incredibly grateful and you are helping them to make their dreams come true and allowing them to live healthy, fulfilling life.

Thank you very much for watching and please feel free to engage with Jonas and Gillian in the comments on YouTube and on Blue Moon Life Facebook page.
